Hot flushes are accompanied by changes in peripheral blood flow and skin temperature, so the question here is whether tagged nights also show a measurable change at the finger. Members log hot flushes and night sweats themselves in the app; those tagged nights were compared against the same woman’s own other nights. On the tagged nights her skin ran 0.32 °C warmer than her normal, and 88% of women showed the shift.
For a sense of scale, the whole second half of a menstrual cycle lifts skin temperature by 0.26 °C. A single hot flush night moves a woman by about as much.
The rise sits on the tagged night itself, not on the night before or the night after. A warm week or a change in the weather would lift all three.
