Polycystic ovary syndrome — renamed polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome, or PMOS, by global consensus in 2026 — affects, on the World Health Organization’s figures, an estimated 10–13% of women of reproductive age, and it works directly against the signal temperature tracking depends on. Cycles run long or arrive unannounced, some pass without releasing an egg at all, and when ovulation does happen the progesterone rise behind it can be blunted. That makes it a demanding setting for any ovulation feature, and one worth measuring rather than assuming.
